The woman had loged a police complaint, stating that the activist, one Shiva, had taken money from her, promising her Patta land.
She also claimed that he had abused her in public, without considering that she was a woman, police said.
Based on her complaint, Shiva was arrested this evening.
However, Shiva's lawyers said the complaint was 'an act of revenge, as he had been fighting alleged encroachment by a spiritual institution in the area.
