SOG jawan 'kills self'

A jawan belonging to the Special Operation Group (SOG) allegedly shot himself to death from his service AK 47 rifle in Koraput district today, police said.
Gangadhar Behera(29) fired at himself from the AK-47, which was not deposited while proceeding on leave,at the terrace of his home at native Mathalput village under Damanjodi police limits in the district.
Behera was deployed for counter-insurgency operation at Bargarh district of state.
"The jawan had fired at least 11 rounds from the AK 47. We have recovered the rifle. The body was sent for autopsy," SDPO (Sunabeda) V R Rao said.
According to the officer, Behera had left on leave along with the arm and had reached home on Thursday night.
"Prima facie it appeared there was some family dispute. A case has been registered and investigation is on," the SDPO said.
