Somesh was arrested yesterday for murdering his father Mahipal Singh, a farmer, on February 22 and lodging a false complaint against his father-in-law and two brothers-in-law for the crime, Sanjay Rai, CO Najibabad said.
According to police, Somesh was demanding a share of land from his father which he wanted to sell to raise Rs 2.5 lakh to bring his estranged wife Sarita back to his house who left home after she was severely beaten up by him.
Somesh confessed to the crime, saying that on February 22 he battered his father with bricks while working in the field, after he refused to give him the share of land that he was demanding, Rai said.
Somesh's blood stained clothes were also recovered, Rai added.
