Sonia congratulates women's Hockey team for winning Asian
Press Trust of India New Delhi Congress President Sonia Gandhi has congratulated the Indian women's Hockey team for winning the Asian Champions Trophy.
"This victory confirms India's supremacy in Hockey in Asia," she said.
Wishing great success to all players, Gandhi called this win "an unforgettable tribute to our national game."
Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala also lauded the women players for recording a sensational victory.
"Kudos to women's Hockey team for a sensational victory over China and win the Asia cup. Deepika - You made the country proud by the stunning last goal," he said.
The Indian women's hockey team lifted its maiden Asian Champions Trophy title with a thrilling 2-1 win over China in the final, in Singapore today.
The welcome result for the Indian women's team comes days after men beat Pakistan to reclaim the Asian Champions Trophy in Kuantan, Malaysia.

Meanwhile, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi also congratulated the women's Hockey team for their achievement.
"Congratulations to the women's hockey team on winning the Asian Champions Trophy! Fantastic achievement and a proud moment for Indian hockey," he said on twitter.
