South Carolina invites Indian biz men

Indian-origin Governor of the US state of South Carolina, Nikki Haley, today invited Indian businessmen across various sectors for setting up businesses in her home State as part of enhancing trade ties between the two countries.
The Governor along with a high-level business delegation were in Chennai, on their final leg of their 10-day tour of India, inviting Indian businessmen to make investments in South Carolina and boosting bilateral trade relations.
According to US Consul General Phillip A Min, Chennai, the two way trade between India and US has already crossed USD 95 billion. "Indian investments in US was USD nine billion while US investments in India was USD 28 billion (as of March 31, 2014)", he said.
"The opportunities are limitless. Already two or three companies have evinced interest (for investing in South Carolina). We have to wait for six months to see the results of our tour here (in India)..", Haley said to a question at an interactive session organised by CII here.
"I see opportunity here. Our government structures are the same. We want to be here. I want Indian companies investing in South Carolina,", she said.
Earlier, the delegation called on the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, and senior government officials at the Secretariat here.
