A release from the Division said that 350 out of the total 540 level crossings in the division are manned and the remaining are unmanned. It has been proposed to eliminate 60 unmanned level crossings during this financial year by converting 51 unammaned crossings into manned ones while the remaining nine would be converted into subways.
Most vuleranble setions in the Tiruchi divisiion are Villupuram-Puducherry and Cuddalore-Vridhachalam. Limited User Subway would be constructed covering 32 unmanned and four manned level crossings. The press release said that the investment for construction of the limited user subways would be around Rs 3 crores.
