New Year celebrations in Nagaland has been peaceful with people ushering in 2014 with fanfare and holding special prayer services in churches.
Bursting of crackers and fire works lit up the sky from last evening until midnight ushering the New Year. People moved around in groups extending best wishes for the New Year.
Even as the end of 2013 witnessed a violent clash between the NSCN(IM) and public in Zunheboto district, which ended with burning down of the designated camp of NSCN(IM) in Mukalimi village on December 30, the New Year was welcomed peacefully without any major untoward incident reported from any quarter.
