Special summary revision of electoral rolls from Sept 15

A special summary revision of photo electoral rolls in all 30 assembly constituencies in the union territory would be held from September 15.
Chief Electoral Officer V.Candavelou in a release here today said the special summary revision was being taken up in keeping with the directives of the Election Commission.
He said this was to enable inclusion of voters who attain 18 years of age with reference to January 1, 2017 as the qualifying date and also to help those who had shifted their residences and migrant voters from outside Puducherry.
The department will publish the draft rolls on September 15 and claims and objections can be filed till October 14.

Candavelou said that special campaign with booth level agents of political parties for receiving claims and objections has been scheduled for September 18 and October 9.
He said that disposal of claims, and objections will take place on November 16 and the final publication of electoral rolls would be on January 5, 2017.
