A leopard, which was on the prowl in Valparai in the district for the last two months, was today trapped by forest department officials, police said.
The spotted cat used to attack estate workers and kill dogs, creating panic among the local villagers.
It had once entered the house of a estate worker, but had jumped out from the roof, as it could not find anything inside, police said.
The forest department had placed two cages to trap it and the animal finally was trapped around 3.30 am, police said.
The leopard is in the custody of the forest department and expected to be released in the interior jungles, department sources said.
