Squall: CM announces Rs 2 lakh compensation to family of dead

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today reviewed the situation across the state in the wake of the thunderstorm, in which 20 persons died and crops were damaged.
The chief minister announced Rs two lakh compensation for kin of every dead, Rs 1.5 lakh from the Disaster Management fund and Rs 50,000 from the CM Relief Fund, an official statement here said.
Nitish ordered to pay compensation to farmers for loss of their crops due to the the thunderstorm yesterday.
Agriculture Production Commissioner Vijay Prakash and Principal Secretary Disaster Management Vyasji told the chief minister at the meeting that masoor crop has been damaged at a large scale due to the thunderstorm, including wheat and other produce, the statement said.
Kumar directed the officials to prepare a district-wise report of the damage and ordered Chief Secretary Anjani Kumar Singh to hold a meeting with district magistrates through video conferencing to assess the extent of loss in different districts, it said.
State Agriculture Minister Vijay Chaudhary and Disaster Management Minister Lessi Singh were present in the meeting.
