A spokesman for Judicial Services Association (JSA) said that group's executive committee deliberated the situation in the aftermath of the attack on the secretary of the Judicial Service Commission Manjula Thilakaratne.

After four hours of talks which was attended by over 150 judges, the association decided to return to work tomorrow.

Thilakaratne, who was attacked on Sunday, was released from hospital today.

JSA said their resolutions which calls for drastic action to preserve independence of judiciary would be forwarded to the JSC for appropriate directives.

Thilakaratne was assaulted after saying that he and his family had faced threats.

The attack was after his statement which claimed that the JSC had come under pressure from the executive arm of the government.

The government, however, has denied all accusations.
