Jammu and Kashmir's summer capital Srinagar today witnessed its hottest day in seven years, with the mercury touching 35.4 degrees Celsius.
It was the second most hottest day for the Kashmir Valley in the last decade, the MeT department said.
Earlier, the temperature had touched 35.5 degrees Celsius for successive years in the month of July 2005 and 2006, it said.
The night temperature in the city also settled several notches above normal at 23.8 degrees Celsius, the department said.
The ongoing heat wave has caused tremendous hardships to the people, who have complained of erratic water and power supply.
