Srinivasan loyalists meet tomorrow to discuss AGM issue

The BCCI bigwigs will gather here tomorrow for an "informal meeting" to discuss the impasse related to the Board's Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The discussion will largely focus be on the fate of AGM which is scheduled to be held within September 30 but majority of members want it to be postponed till the SC-appointed Mukul Mudgal committee submits its final report on the IPL spot-fixing and betting on the first week of November.
If the report clears N Srinivasan of any wrongdoing, the Tamil Nadu strongman is unlikely to face any election as the opposition faction led by former BCCI president Shashank Manohar barely have support of four units at the moment.

It is a gathering where only affiliated units who are close to Srinivasan are attending and the number is close to 20.
Interim president Shivlal Yadav won't be present as it is clashing with HCA's AGM tomorrow while it is not clear whether senior vice-president Rajeev Shukla will be attending the meeting. Shukla is in London currently on a personal visit.
Former BCCI president and CAB supremo Jagmohan Dalmiya is sending his confidante and IPL governing council member Subir Ganguly for the meeting.

"For obvious reasons, the units belonging to Manohar faction are not attending. Neither have they been summoned," a BCCI member told PTI on condition of anonymity.

While none of the BCCI members are clarifying whether the September 30 deadline for AGM is a convention or rule, the secretary of the defunct Cricket Association of Bihar Aditya Verma, who has Manohar's staunch backing, has written to the IG (Registrar) Chennai, to ensure that BCCI is not allowed to defer the AGM, which will pave the way for Srinivasan's return.
The anti-Srinivasan faction is looking towards all the legal possibilities as it has been indicated by the former IPL chairman Lalit Modi in a recent interview. Modi had gone to the extent of saying that he "will have to hang his boots if Srini is cleared by the Mudgal committee".
