Standing committees submit reports to Andhra Assembly amid din

The Departmentally Related Standing Committees, constituted for the first time in Andhra Pradesh Legislature, today submitted their reports to the House amid the din created by TRS and TDP over Telangana issue and the demand to set up a steel plant in Khammam district.
The committees deliberated on the Budget proposals before coming up with the reports.
The committees, formed under rule 297 A, are mandated to consider the Demands for Grants of the concerned departments and to make a report on the same to both the Houses and also to examine the allocations made under each sub-head and make reports.

Speaker N Manohar appreciated members of the Standing Committees for their efforts.
Even as TRS members trooped into the well of the House as soon as the session began for the day and raised slogans demanding that the Assembly pass a resolution favouring formation of separate Telangana, two bills, namely the Andhra Pradesh Municipal Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and The Andhra Pradesh Medical Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2013 were introduced.
TDP members also stood near the Speaker's podium demanding that a steel factory be established in Khammam district in Telangana region.

Speaker N Manohar initially adjourned the House for half-an-hour. However, members of TDP and TRS continued to press for their demands when the House re-assembled.

Minister for Legislative Affairs D Sridhar Babu recalled the statement made by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy yesterday that the Telangana issue was being considered by the Centre.
Referring to the TDP demand, he indicated that the government is not opposed to setting up a steel plant in Khammam district.
However, with TRS, BJP and TDP members unrelenting, the Speaker adjourned the House for half-an-hour again and later for the day as the members continued the din even after House re-assembled.
