Around 1,000 entries have been received for the 54th edition of the Championships which will take at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, according to a release issued by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).
Almost all the medal winners of the Incheon Asian Games, including women's discus thrower Punia and members of the gold winning 4x400m women's relay team have confirmed their participation in the Championships.
AFI president and former Olympian Adille J. Sumariwalla said, "The National Open Athletics Championships will be an exciting occasion for all the fans to witness their heroes who dazzled at the recently-concluded Asian Games.
