Police had on April 14 apprehended Amitkumar Jaiswal (36) and Preeti Surin (26) from suburban Bandra in connection with the brutal murder of the 26-year-old smalltime actress who had been missing since March.

Thapa's mother Kamala (56) and brother Navraj (35) called on the city police commissioner Arup Patnaik and handed him over a written application stating that the case should be thoroughly probed as they suspect involvement of more than mere two persons in the crime.

"It was a preplanned gruesome killing. I had been to the spot and the crime does not appear to be carried out by only two arrested accused. There might have been a group which executed the crime. Family members of the accused might have also participated in killing," said Navraj, who works with India Army.

"The belongings, including mobile phone, bag and shoes, of my sister are still missing," he said.

Kamala Thapa claimed that Patnaik assured her that police would do their best to reach to the roots of the case.

Patnaik was unavailable for comment.

"The severed head of my daughter is yet to be found," Kamala said, adding that, "the probe has lost its momentum. We requested the police that the investigations needed to be intensified".

According to police, the accused duo, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, had befriended the victim on the sets of Bollywood film 'Heroine' in which she landed a small role. (More)
