The filmmaker has worked with actors like Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Priyanka Chopra among others.
"Personally I feel, earlier stars were closely connected to the filmmakers. We all used to operate like one small family. Today, there is this whole corporatisation which exists, it has brought in lots of moola and technology but what it couldn't bring was the human aspect," Sunneel told PTI.
Because of this, the equation between actors and filmmakers changed, says the director.
The director is ready with his directorial venture "Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha".
Suneel says over the years he hasn't missed working with stars and that he genuinely couldn't work with his long time collaborator, Akshay.
"I've made seven movies with him (Akshay) in seven years, right from the time when people were writing him off after he had a series of flops. Then 'Jaanwar' happened to his career. I felt happy I could actually contribute to the career of a boy who was destined for stardom," he says.
The upcoming romantic mystery stars Suneel's son Shiv Darshan along with Upen Patel and introduces actress Natasha Fernandez.
"It was such a fantastic experience working with newcomers. Every person who worked with me in the film was so heavily invested in the film.
"I was delighted to see my son's commitment and dedication towards work. But on the set, I was strictly a filmmaker. You do feel proud when you see a good performance and see your boy evolving as an actor," he says.
