"We are in the process of finalizing the Draft India Programme to monitor India's progress in meeting the SDG goals of the UN", Union Minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation D V Sadananda Gowda said at the ISI here today.
Saying that the ministry had drawn up various schemes for policy planning using statistics as a tool, Gowda said an annual labour survey for the urban and rural sectors had started since April this year.
Chief statistician and secretary of the ministry TCA Anant said that the government is trying to adopt the "administrative statistics" which would capture all government data and then convert it into electronic files.
"This will serve as a huge data mine which could be used in the service of the society," he said.
