Steps taken to improve quality of education in Bihar: Nitish

Steps have been taken to improve quality of education and ensure quality man power and infrastructure in schools with a broader aim to galvanise the education sector in Bihar from the primary education stage, he said at a felicitation function for teachers on the occasion of Teachers' Day.

A pension scheme has been launched for contractual teachers and revival of 56 teachers training institutes has been undertaken, besides orientation and training programmes for teachers, Kumar said.

It has also been decided to credit salaries of contractual teachers directly to their bank account with effect from December, the chief minister said.

Besides, recruitment of 1.5 lakh contractual teachers in the primary schools was on and an additional 27,000 Urdu teachers would be recruited so that students could learn both Hindi and Urdu languages right from primary education level, he said.

Kumar said the state government had decided to set up higher secondary schools in each Panchayat for intermediate education to students and 1,000 such schools will be set up every year over the next five years.

The state government has paid attention to quality education for girls too keeping in mind that their education helps the entire family and society, he said.
