Sterlite Power judged 'Best transmission utility'

Sterlite Power Transmission Ltd today said it has been conferred the CBIP Award for 'Best Performing Power Transmission (System) Utility'.

Central Board of Irrigation and Power (CBIP) is a premier central government-backed institution rendering services to professional organisations, engineers and individuals, resulting in accelerated development in water resources, energy and allied fields, including renewable energy.

It is a recognised international platform for knowledge sharing, training, consultancy, and research.

Sterlite Power is the first private transmission project developer to receive this honour from CBIP, it added.

"We will continue to meet our commitments to make sure no home is without electricity. We thank CBIP for bestowing this honour on Sterlite Power and validating our efforts to bring state-of-the-art technologies to the Indian transmission sector," Sterlite Power CEO Pratik Agarwal said.

Minister of State for Water Resources & River Development Sanjeev Balyan presented the award to Sterlite Power.

Govt invites entries for books in Hindi on mines * The government today invited entries from citizens under a promotional scheme for original books in Hindi on subjects pertaining to mining.

The books published between April 1, 2014 to March 31, 2016 will be accepted under the scheme, the Mines Ministry said in a statement.

"There is a provision of...Awards under this scheme -- First Award (one) Rs 75,000, second award (two) Rs 50,000, Third Award (two) Rs 25,000 and Incentive Award Rs 15,000," statement said.

The winners will be presented a certificate and a memento along with the cash award, it added.
