STF arrests wanted criminal after encounter

Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh police has arrested a wanted criminal carrying reward of Rs 15 thousand after an encounter, a senior official said today.
Anshu Dixit was arrested yesterday night from Gorakhnath area of Gorakhpur district by STF personnel after an encounter, IG, STF, Sujeet Pandey told reporters here.
A pistol and a number of cartridges were recovered from him, he said, adding that on October 27, STF team had an encounter with Dixit in Bhopal in which a sub inspector and constable were injured and he managed to flee.
During interrogation, Dixit told STF that he was in Gorakhpur to eliminate a builder and extort money from two doctors, the IG said.

The officer said that on October 17 last year Dixit had fled from police custody at Sitapur railway station while being
taken to Lucknow jail by dodging policemen by giving them sedatives in eatable.
He said Dixit was having eight criminal cases pending against him and was carrying reward of Rs 10 thousand from Madhya Pradesh and Rs 5 thousand from Uttar Pradesh railway police.
