STF team arrests man who had demanded Rs 1 Cr extortion money

A team of Special task force today arrested a person who had demanded extortion money of rupees one crore from a hospital owner in Varanasi, an official said.
The STF team arrested Chandan Prasad from Lohta area in Varanasi and recovered two sim cards from him which were used to make the extortion call to owner of Shivam hospital Mrinal Singh, he said.
Chandan used to work as a data operator at the hospital, but was removed by Singh in April due to his non-professional activities, he said.
Singh received a message on May 4 demanding an extortion money of rupees one crore failing to which the sender threatened to kill his son and daughter and blow the hospital.
