An eight-member team, including STPI director Manas Ranjan Panda and deputy secretary of state's IT sector Aditya Mohapatra, along with officials from the state government visited the area on Friday for a feasibility study.
There are certain criteria which should be fulfilled for the establishment of such a park and the place at Phulobado fulfills certain conditions. "We will submit our report to the centre in next one week and it depends on the union government either to approve or reject the proposal,” said Panda.
"Once the report is accepted by the Centre works for it will begin. Presently, no budget estimate has been prepared for the project," he added.
According to Panda, the objective of the software park is to act as front-end to the software industry for the government policies and approvals and to establish and provide data communication facilities and infrastructure facilities.
Also, it aims to promote development and export of software and the services.
Officials said the area is well connected, as it lies on the NH-26, making residential accommodation for employees easy. It also has access to water and round-the-clock power supply. The area has proximity to airstrip and railway station.
