"International Yoga Day will be celebrated by Strike 1 in Mathura Cantt and all of its formations at several different military stations in Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab," army spokesperson Col Sharad Shukla said.
Yoga classes will be conducted and a major event in which all ranks and their families will take part will be held on June 21. It is expected that more than 12-15,000 persons will attend the event, he said.
Officers and soldiers of Sapta Shakti Command, along with their families, will also participate in Yoga Day event on June 21.
"This is in keeping with the spirit of the occasion as the 1.3 million strong Indian Army has actively taken to promoting this healthy movement within its ranks," deference spokesperson Lt Col Manish Ojha said in a release in Jaipur.
South Western Army Commander Lt General Sarath Chand and other senior officers, along with their families, will be participating in the event.
