In order to check errant taxi and auto drivers in the state, transport minister Madan Mitra today announced if a vehicle is caught refusing passengers, the driver and owner of the vehicle both will also be penalised.
"If a taxi is caught refusing or misbehaving with passengers or errant driving, then both the driver and the owner of the vehicle will be penalised and the state government will take strong steps against such drivers," said Mitra.
Mitra also said any passenger who has been harassed by taxi or auto drivers can directly send their complaints to his e-mail id and swift action would be taken.
"Since this morning I have received several emails and swift action will be taken," the minister said.
Mitra also said the state transport department would also take action against unruly bus drivers and penalise them heavily for rash driving.
