A student, who has scored over 83 per cent aggregate in the recent class XII examinations, today approached the Delhi High Court seeking direction to CBSE for re-assessment of the answer sheet of English paper in which he has got only 65 marks.
Filing the plea, DPS Noida student Aman Tripathy alleged that examiner must have negligently marked without carefully perusing the answer sheet in English subject.
The plea, filed through counsel Sugriv Dubey, claimed that the school had earlier given him certificate of merit for his excellent performance in academics since 2006 to 2012.
His counsel argued before vacation bench of Justice Vibhu Bhakru that the petitioner has scored has scored more than 90 marks in some subjects and more than 83 per cent in total adding "it is beyond expectations that he has done poorly" in English.
"The examiner of English seemed to have negligently examined the copy which is evident from the fact that the petitioner has got 80 per cent and 98 per cent in other subjects except English in which he has got only 65 per cent," Tripathy's plea said alleging that his representation for re-assessment of the answer sheet in English paper has been kept in abeyance since June 7.
The CBSE announced the class XII results on May 27.
The CBSE counsel told the court that the board's examination rule does not permit the education body to re-assess the answer sheets but allow to re-count the marks given in the answer sheet.
Following the CBSE counsel's argument, the court asked the petitioner's counsel to amend the petition challenging the CBSE rules.
