In an embarrassment for the state's education department, students of a government school in the Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir have alleged that they were failed in their practical examination for not paying bribe to the examiner.
The students of Mogla Higher Secondary School in Kalakote area of Rajouri passed their class 10th theory exams but were failed in their practical exams after they refused to pay an alleged bribe of Rs 200 each demanded by the examiner.
"We were surprised to see that all of us failed in our practical exams despite clearing our respective theory papers," said a dejected student.
"When I went for my practical examination the examiner there demanded a sum of Rs 200. He said that if I did not give him the money he will fail me," the student added.
The students, meanwhile, called on District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Fakir Chand Bhagat, and apprised him about the entire episode.
Bhagat has directed the Chief Education Officer (CEO) to conduct a through inquiry into the case and submit a detailed report to his office within 10 days.
"The students complained about the marks in their practical exams. I have entrusted CEO to look into the matter and submit a report in this matter within 10 days," Bhagat informed PTI.
He, meanwhile, assured the aggrieved students that justice would be done and the guilty would be punished.
