The 19-year-old Tania, son of Congress MLA and Parliamentary Secretary of Health and Family Welfare department Nido Pavitra, was allegedly beaten up by some shopkeepers following an altercation.
Students from Meghalaya, Manipur, Nagaland, Assam and Tripura also joined in the rally here which was organised by the Arunachal Students Union Shillong (ASUS).

The rallyists carried placards and banners and shouted slogans alleging harassment faced by students from the North East in national capital.
"We want justice and the police in Delhi should immediately arrest the culprits involved in the heinous crime and punish them," said Kakyar Dulom, ASUS president.
A large group of Khasi Students Union activists also joined in the rally among other students from the North Eastern Hill University and other colleges in the city.
"Our demand from the Centre is to ensure that such discrimination against the students from the region are not repeated," Donald Thabah, AKSU leader said.
Two shopkeepers, identified as Farhan and Akram, have been arrested in connection with the Lajpatnagar incident.
