Police rushed to the spot on being informed after which the students ran out of the school.
Pleas by their personnel and education department officials to students of the school in Siddapudur area to come for talks went unheeded, they said.
School authorities took stock of the situation, cancelled the ongoing half-yearly exams and closed the institution indefinitely.
Upon being assured that action would be taken against the teacher and also the headmistress, who reportedly protected her, the students had withdrawn their protest on assurance by authorities that, they said.
Both the headmistress and teacher joined duty today after 20 days leave. Senior students then met the headmistress and demanded that the teacher be transferred.
However, she reportedly asked them to write the exams, following which they entered the classroom and went on a rampage, police said.
