Students of the National Law Institute University (NLIU) are demanding removal of director S S Singh, accusing him of harassment and making objectionable remarks against female students, charges refuted by him.
The students are boycotting classes and sitting on a dharna holding placards since yesterday in support of their charter of demands, in which they have also raised several other issues related to the city-based prestigious law school.
However, talking to PTI, Singh said accusations against him were baseless.
"As director I am going to complete 10 years in office. For nine-and-a-half years I was good for the students, but suddenly I have turned bad for them. I talk of discipline in the university," he added.
"The students want freedom and that's why they are levelling baseless allegation against me. Some faculty members are inciting students for their own gains," the professor said.
They are not ready for talks about their demands with anybody, Singh said.
A student, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, "Our sit-in will continue till Prof Singh is ousted."
"Prof Singh has been troubling us. He calls female students to his chamber and in the presence of male staffers makes insulting remarks about their dresses," he alleged.
Besides, Singh makes objectionable comments against female students, he alleged.
