Jharkhand government is studying "guidelines on the regularisation of unauthorised colonies in Delhi" before taking a decision on slums existing in the state, the Assembly was informed today.
Chief Minister Raghubar Das, while replying to a question, told the Assembly that the government was studying the steps taken by government in Delhi in regularising unauthorised colonies and necessary action would be taken thereafter.
Das was replying to a question of BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan seeking to know whether the government would regularise unauthorised houses in slum areas of Jamshedpur, Bokaro, Ranchi, Dhanbad and in other cities and provide basic amenities and other benefits to the dwellers.
To a Marxist Coordination Committee MLA Arup Chatterjee's query, Das said the Food Security Act would be implemented in Jharkhand from July this year.
After the implementation, 86.48 per cent families in rural and about 60 per cent urban families would benefit under the Act.
To another query of Congress MLA Irfan Ansari on improvement of socio-economic conditions of single women, Das reiterated his government's commitment in improving and empowering women, adding that the department of Women and Child Development is doing necessary work in that regard.
Das also said the government was looking into the issue of raising honorarium of midday meal-makers in schools after another MLA asked whether the government would increase honorarium, insurance and medical care for them.
The state would announce its agriculture policy within three months, Das added.
