The honour, named after eminent poet and lyricist late Vayalar Ramavarama, carries a cash prize of Rs one lakh, statuette and a citation, Vayalar Ramavaram Memorial Trust members said here.
A panel, comprising writers Thomas Mathew, C R Omanakuttan and G V Appukkuttan Nair, which chose the book for the recognition, were of the opinion that the novel is an outstanding work in terms of charaterisation and treatment.
The award will be presented to the writer on October 27, the death anniversary of Vayalar, they added.
