The Cabinet which met under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took note of the loss of life and the damage caused to property and public infrastructure due to recent heavy rains and floods in the state, an official spokesman said.
He said the Revenue Department was directed to assess the losses on this account and submit report to the government immediately.
The Chief Secretary was asked to convene a meeting of the Executive Committee of State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) urgently for providing timely relief to the sufferers and immediate restoration of the damaged infrastructure, the spokesman said.
Ten persons were killed as heavy rains lashed wide parts of the state for the past three days resulting in floods in various areas and extensive damage to infrastructure and standing crops.
