According to minutes of a meeting put by the ministry on its website, some of the leading successful companies had requested to operationalise their fresh FM Radio stations from interim facilities.
Broadcasting Engineering Consultants (India) Limited (BECIL) officials said that they will be able to create the Common Transmission Infrastructure (CTI) for some cities by July-August though the target is September.
I&B ministry officials said the early operationalisation would benefit all stakeholders and allowed these operators to start channels interim operations subject to certain conditions including that they should be in the same premises where the CTI is operating.
