Sugar falls on sluggish demand

Prices of both varieties of sugar fell at the Vashi wholesale market today amid sluggish demand from stockists and retailers on the back ample supplies.
Small sugar (S-30) dropped by Rs 40/55 per quintal Rs 3,050/3,160 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 3,090/ 3,215.
Medium sugar also dipped by Rs 62/102 per quintal to Rs 3,150/3,280 as against Rs 3,212/3,382 previously.
Following are today's closing rates for sugar (per quintal) with the previous rates given in brackets:
Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 3,150/3,280 (Rs 3,212/3,382).
Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 3,050/3,160 (Rs 3,090/3,215).
