The Deputy CM and DGP Suresh Arora conducted surprise checks between 11 pm and 2 am in SAS Nagar, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Patiala districts to check their working during night hours, an official spokesman said here today.
"All night duty officers were present in the police stations which the two visited," he said.
Despite finding everything in order, Deputy CM has warned all the field police officers to be punctual and maintain strict vigil.
The Deputy CM asked the DGP to increase number of police personnel in the police stations so that efficiency of working is not compromised.
Deputy CM also gave instructions regarding deployment of PCR vans fitted with GPS so that they could be tracked.
The DGP told the Deputy CM that rationalisation would be carried out soon in the police force and necessary staff would be deployed in the police stations facing workforce crunch.
