Hisar (42 deg C), Bhiwani (41 deg C), Narnaul (42.5 deg C) were among the places in Haryana where the maximum temperature crossed the 40 deg C mark while Amritsar (39.6 deg C) was the hottest place in Punjab, the MeT office here said.
Ambala registered a maximum of 37.1 deg C.
High humidity levels prevailed in Chandigarh, where the maximum temperature settled at 36.5 deg C.
Ludhiana and Patiala in Punjab recorded above normal maximum of 38.6 deg C and 38.3 deg C, respectively.
The MeT has forecast light to moderate rains or thunder showers may occur at isolated places in the two states during the next two days.
