Sun outage periods, with a duration of 15 days, generally occur twice every year when there is interruption in geostationary satellite signals caused by interference from solar radiation.
According to a BSE circular, the disruptions would be till March 18.
"Market Participants using BSE VSAT connectivity are hereby informed that due to heavy solar activity, the VSAT services are likely to be disrupted for up to 17 minutes in a 27 minute (12.33 hrs to 13.00 hrs) window," BSE said.
Markets regulator SEBI had sought in 2008 continuation of trading in normal course even during the sun outage period through alternative connectivity modes. The alternatives include leased lines and internet-based trading platforms.
