The supply and allocation under Public Distribution System (PDS) will soon be made online in Haryana to make the entire process more transparent.
Haryana's Food and Supplies Minister Karan Dev Kamboj today said the step was being taken to make PDS "corruption- free" in the state.
"The department is preparing a software based on 'Food and Essential Commodities Assurance and Security Target' (FEAST) through which supply and allocation under PDS would be made fully online," he said.
"All information from lifting of ration from godowns to sale would be provided on mobile phones of consumers and there would be no possibility of depot holders cheating them. Moreover, all fair price shops in the State would be connected online with the headquarters," Kamboj said.
He said the data of crores of beneficiaries have already been digitised as part of the National Food Security Act.
"Under the National Food Security Act, data of 1.33 crore beneficiaries belonging to different categories has been digitalised," Kamboj said.
"Apart from this, about 87.62 per cent ration cards and 72.6 per cent beneficiaries have been linked with Aadhaar and work is underway to link the remaining beneficiaries. Besides, data of 9,476 fair price shops and 469 godowns has also been digitised," he added.
