A survey would soon be conducted in the districts of Haryana hit by waterlogging due to heavy rains and compensation would be given to the affected farmers, state Agriculture minister O P Dhankar said today.
The compensation for farmers would be Rs 12,000 per acre following the special 'Girdawari' (revenue survey to assess loss), he said at the one-day 'Chintan Shivir' organised in Panchkula to discuss various agriculture-related issues.
When his attention was drawn to waterlogging due to heavy rains at 25 villages in Jind, Jhajjar and elsewhere in the state, Dhankar spoke to Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue, Keshni Anand Arora over phone, who assured that the department would start the survey soon.
Dhankar said the state government has sent requisition for assistance to the tune of Rs 700 crore to the World Bank for renovation of irrigation projects and canal systems in Haryana.
Also awards would be introduced under Soil Health Card scheme with a view to encourage people to work towards maintaining soil fertility, he said.
The minister said that separate nodal officers have also been appointed for providing information regarding subsidies under various schemes, including the 'Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana'.
At the 'chintan shivir', discussion was held on various subjects such as Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, agriculture entrepreneurship and increase of crop yield.
