Held annually since 2010-11, the survey is a web-based, pan-India exercise which covers all the higher educational institutions in the country.
Higher Education Secretary Satya Narayan Mohanty launched the survey for the year 2014-15. The Human Resource Development Ministry has so far released the final reports for AISHE 2011-12 along with the provisional reports for the 2012-13 survey.
The survey collects data on teachers, student enrolment, programmes, examination results, education finance, infrastructure, etc.
The survey is aimed at building a sound database which is updated annually as per the information submitted by the institutions covered under it. The data collected as part of the survey is uploaded on the AISHE portal -- http://aishe.Gov.In.
