Police had kept vigil in the area after receiving a tip-off that three men from Gulbarga district in Karnataka had come to the city to commit a robbery, police commissioner M Mahender Reddy said.
"Two of them were tracked and while police were chasing them, one of the accused who had a country-made weapon fired at the police. The bullet hit a labourer of L&T Metro on the shoulder," said Reddy.
The nabbed men were identified as Fahim Mirza, Abdul Kadir and Shami. They had arrived in Hyderabad 3-4 days ago.
"The police foiled their plan to commit robbery," Reddy said.
Deputy commissioner of police A Venkateshwera Rao said that after getting information about the suspected robbers, officers of special task force tracked them down. While the police gave them chase, one of the accused opened fire.
