SVC seeks report from JDA VC on land grabbing case

The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) today sought a report from the vice-chairman, Jammu Development Authority (JDA) on the alleged grabbing of prime state land worth crores of rupees by land mafia in Jammu.
The SVC has directed the vice-chairman JDA, Mubarak Singh to furnish action taken report before the Commission through the Director Land Management in alleged state land encroachment case at Channi Kamala area of Jammu city, SVC spokesman said here today.
The SVC proceeded on a complaint in connection with encroachments made over State Land (Khasra No 124) measuring about 26 kanals and 3 marlas (over 3 Acres) at Channi Kamala by some land mafia with the alleged support and succour of officials of the Revenue Department after hatching conspiracy with officials of the JDA leading to illegal possession and unauthorised constructions thereon, resulting in huge loss to the State Exchequer.

The SVC issued notice to the Vice-Chairman JDA and directed for demarcation of land through the Revenue department in presence of JDA officials and submission of status report thereof beforethe Commission, he said. The report furnished by the Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Jammu, prima-facie revealed that land (Khasra No 124 measuring) about 26 kanals 3 marlas at Channi Kamala is State Land, the Spokesman said.
"Out of which 25 kanals and 15 marlas is recorded in the name of Nazool and Jammu Development Authority(JDA) and 9 marlas in the name of Housing Department", the AC said in the report submitted to SVC, he said.

However, on spot 24 kanals and 14 marlas has been encroached by the land grabbers and pertinently none among them possess papers regarding title of the land and only 1 kanal and 9 marlas land is vacant, he said.
