T-Hub, a startup incubator by the Telangana government today announced the launch of Smart Mobility and Transportation Cluster at its premises here.
According to a release issued by T-hub, in a two-pronged approach, this initiative will work towards enhancing mobility while reducing congestion, air pollution and road traffic incidents.
With India fast emerging as a global leader in clean energy, the center has put forth its vision to transition to 100 per cent electric vehicles by 2030. The Telangana Government is putting together policy and incentives for all stake holders in this industry - automobile manufacturers, aggregators, and end users, it said.
Speaking at the launch of the Smart Mobility and Transportation Cluster, Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary for IT and industry said the state and T-Hub are joining hands to launch the cluster.
"This will help encourage innovation in the space of Electrical Vehicles (EV), Autonomous Vehicles and other cutting-edge technologies. As part of this cluster, state plans to put out a policy document on EV very shortly," Jayesh Ranjan said.
Speaking on the occasion, Jay Krishnan, CEO T-Hub said, "We will invite startups from across the globe in the transportation space both from the demand and supply side to help come up with innovative solutions and ideas.
"The ecosystem with a number of stakeholders that includes government, startups, infrastructure, academia, corporates and investors shall become a hub for innovation in the transportation space and change the future of mobility radically," he said.
The launch also witnessed unveiling of a white paper on electric vehicle ecosystem in India, co-authored by Rama Iyer, Senior Vice President; Head-Innovation and Strategic Alliance and Harish Makke, Lead, Sustainability of T-Hub, and India Center of Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a foreign-policy think tank based in New Delhi.
