Tabla maestro, Odissi exponent to be conferred with Guru

Noted tabla maestro Guru Harmohan Khuntia and Odissi exponent Guru Durga Charan Ranbir will be conferred with the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award, 2019 for their contribution to music and dance, organisers of the event said.

The award, carrying Rs 1 lakh each along with citation, will be presented during the week-long Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Award Festival, to be organised here by 'Srijan' from September 5 to 11, its director and noted Odissi exponent Ratikant Mohapatra said.

Eminent dance critics and authors Sunil Kothari and Leela Venkataraman and noted art photographer Avinash Pasricha have also been selected for the annual award.

Ratikant Mohapatra said Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Yuva Prativa Samman will be presented to Odissi dancers Swapnokalpa Dasgupta, Rahul Acharya, Rajashri Praharaj, Odissi musician Satyabrata Katha and Sattriya dancer Anwesa Mahanta.

They will be presented with a cash reward of Rs 25,000 each and a citation, he said.
