Opposition today alleged gross anomalies in the conduct of this year's APPSCCE (Main) exam and demanded the state government to cancel the entire examination keeping in view the future of the students.
"It is a matter of grave concern that due to reported leakage of General Studies Paper-II, the APPSCCE (Mains) Exam 2013-14 had to be withheld by the APPSC," Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Tamiyo Taga said.
"It has jeopardized the future of so many young promising candidates who are in the fray.
"If such corrupt practice was committed by the Commission than there is every possibility that other papers might have also been leaked," the BJP legislator said in a statement.
"It will be a natural justice to all the aspiring candidates that the entire examination should be cancelled.
"We have come to know that an inquiry commission by a magistrate has been conducted and report of the same has already been submitted to the Government," he said.
But till date no action has been initiated against the erring official(s) of the Commission responsible for the act, he pointed out.
"The state government is sitting tight-lipped on the issue without any action," he alleged.
Stating that the present Commission had conducted examination in questionable circumstances in past many occasions, he further added that during 2009 Preliminary Exams, more than 2,500 candidates were rejected but later were allowed to appear for the same after the commission accepted its mistake.
"Result of 98 candidates appearing for the 2013 Preliminary Exam was withheld citing mistakes in filling up the application forms, but they were allowed to appear for the main (2012) exams for recruitment of Assistant Engineer, the creditability of the commission was highly criticized resulting into destruction of Commission's office building," he alleged.
