'Talvar', 'Parched' to premiere at Toronto Film Festival

Meghna Gulzar's "Talvar", which is based on the infamous Aarushi Talvar murder case, will have its international premiere at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival where Leena Yadav's "Parched" will also screen.
Starring Irrfan, Tabu, Konkana Sen Sharma, the movie is penned by director Vishal Bhardwaj and revolves around the sensational murder of 14-year-old Aarushi Talwar and 45-year-old Hemraj Banjade, a domestic help in Noida, India on the night of 15-16 May 2008.
The film has been selected for World Premiere in 'Special Presentations' section at the festival that runs from September 10 to 20.
"Talvar" will have Gulzar's lyrics, and is shot by Pankaj Kumar of "Haider" and "Ship Of Theseus" fame.
"Parched", a short film, starring Tannishtha Chatterjee, Radhika Apte, Adil Hussain, Surveen Chawla and Sayani Gupta, is set in the heart of parched rural landscape of Gujarat and traces the bittersweet tale of four ordinary women Rani, Lajjo, Bijli and Janaki.
The other films with Indian connect include Deepa Mehta's "Beeba Boys" and Matt Brown's biopic "The Man Who Knew Infinity" on the legendary mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
"Beeba Boys", a gangster drama, stars Randeep Hooda, Gulshan Grover, Ali Momen and Waris Ahluwalia.
Dev Patel will play Ramanujan in Brown's ambitious biopic while Jeremy Irons is starring as Ramanujan's mentor and friend G H Hardy.
Toronto festival will run from September 10 to September 20.
