Mansoor took the charge yesterday.
He was appointed the Vice Chancellor by the university's Visitor, President of India Pranab Mukherjee on May 4.
Born in 1956, Mansoor completed his MBBS from the AMU's Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in 1978 and MS in 1982.
He joined the teaching staff of the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College in the Department of Surgery in 1983 and was appointed the Principal and Chief Medical Superintendent of this college in 2013.
Professor Mansoor also served as an advisor in the Union Public Service Commission and as an assessor for the Medical Council of India.
