Domestic sales of Tata Motors' commercial and passenger vehicles rose 2 per cent at 35,643 units during the month as against the same period of previous year.
Sales of passenger vehicles in the domestic market last month stood at 8,617 units as against 11,138 a year-ago, down 23 per cent, Tata Motors said in a statement.
As for passenger cars, the sales were down 15 per cent at 7,787 units in May compared with 9,176 units in the year-ago period.
Exports during the month declined by 5 per cent to 4,428 units compared with 4,678 vehicles sold in May 2015.
