Tata Trust to develop villages in Vijayawada

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will launch a comprehensive development plan for Vijayawada Parliamentary constituency, to be attended by Tata Trust Chairman Ratan Tata, here on August 24.
The project has been jointly undertaken by local Lok Sabha MP Kesineni Srinivas and the Tata Trust.
The chief minister and Tata Trust will ink an MoU for the development plan envisaged for 264 villages of the constituency, Srinivas told PTI.
"We have been working on the subject for past five months and submitted a detailed reports to Tata Trust. The Trust has finalised it with meticulous analysis," he said.
Under the project, areas of education, health, drinking water and self employment for the youth, have been taken up, he said.
The MP also claimed that this is the first of its kind of project undertaken by Tata Trust in the country to develop all villages of a single Parliamentary constituency.
About 2.5 lakh households of the constituency will benefit from the project.
Tata Trust has also conducted a comprehensive household survey in all villages and identified the activities to be taken up, he said.
On the occasion, Vijayawada Bamboo Mission will also be launched by Ratan Tata for cultivation and marketing of bamboo and its products.
Meanwhile, Krishna district collector Babu A conducted a review meeting with police and revenue officials yesterday for Tata's visit.
